About Lily Sprout and her first book

‘Crows on the Dancefloor’ is my first children’s book. I inspired it on my own and my cousin’s experience while growing up.

I struggled with anxiety while growing up (still do) and my cousin is autistic (albeit not being diagnosed yet back then). We both had difficulties talking to other boys and girls for different reasons.

I like children’s book that adults can connect to as well. We all were children once, and we all still carry that child with us. I like a story that makes me wonder like a child, cry like a child and laugh like a child.

You may know that Lily Sprout is a pen name for Ninke Nieuwenhuis. The reason she uses a pen name for her children’s books is to help readers find the books they are searching.
